I work with Dr. Lucile London in the department of Oral Biology and Pathology.  My research project focuses on evaluating bone loss in four groups of experimental rats using methods such as PCR and microCT Analysis.  The purpose of this project is to explore the role of drug Curcumin in alveolar bone loss. My research interests are in the fields of periodontal diseases and I hope to continue my research in the future and present at several student symposiums.

My first introduction to research happened when I was selected as an intern to do research at Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in the summer of 2007. I worked in Dr. William Cohen’s laboratory on the project of exploring the function of Vitelline Membrane in KCl activated meiosis of Spisula solidissima. In the summer of 2008, I was again chosen to go to MBL. This time, I worked with Dr. Richard Chappell on the project of exploring the role of ionic zinc in the outer plexiform layer of skate retina. I continued to do research with Dr. Chappell over my fall and spring semesters at Hunter and received publication with him in ARVO in 2009.
