By Car
Take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) (Eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens ) to Exit 62 - Nicolls Road North (Route 97) 8½ miles. Turn left at the South Entrance to the University campus. The School of Dental Medicine is the first entrance on the right, after entering the campus.

The Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip is 16 miles from the campus and is serviced by direct flights by major airlines and commuter lines. New York City Area Airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark ) airports are 50 miles to the west. All airports offer limousine and taxi services to campus. From JFK, take the AirTran to Jamaica Station and transfer to the LIRR for the train to Stony Brook.
By Ferry
Car ferries cross Long Island Sound at Bridgeport, Connecticut to Port Jefferson, Long Island. Take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road, the University entrances are the first 3 intersections you come to. From New London, Connecticut to Orient Point, Long Island, take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road, the University entrances are the first 3 intersections you come to.
By Train
Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook. Some trains require changing at Jamaica Station and some at Huntington Station. Stony Brook University bus service is scheduled to adhere closely to the LIRR arrival and departure times. Take the SBU bus to the School of Dental Medicine.
