Emergency Care Hours
As a service to our patients and the local community, the Dental Care Center maintains an ongoing emergency dental care service. The purpose of the service is two-fold:
- To provide 24 hour dental emergency coverage for patients of record of the Dental Care Center.
- To offer, on a limited basis, daytime dental emergency services to the University and neighboring communities.
If you are a patient of record of the Dental Care Center and you have an emergency or post-operative complication, please contact your student doctor or resident that has been assigned to you.
General Practice Residency Program: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If you are not an existing patient of the Dental Care Center and have a dental emergency, urgent care is available without appointment on a first come, first served basis. The hours are:
Monday/Tuesday: 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday/Thursday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

University Hospital Emergency Room: 24/7
Evenings and weekends: Dial 632-8989; teleprompt directions are given to call Stony Brook University Emergency Room.
Patients of record should inform the ER that they are active patients at the Dental Care Center so that the appropriate fee adjustments can be made.
