The School of Dental Medicine at Stony Brook University is seeking applications for a part-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. The responsibilities of the successful applicant include pre-clinical, clinical and didactic teaching of pediatric dentistry at the dental student and resident levels; scholarly activity; serving on select school committees; engaging in school governance; and participating in the school’s affiliated faculty practice. Candidates should demonstrate a clear potential for academic growth in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice and service.
Opportunities to further develop or refine teaching skills are offered at the university’s Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. The potential to earn a Master’s in Higher Education Administration (MHEA) is also available and viewed favorably for those willing to make the effort.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- DDS/DMD degree from a CODA-accredited dental school/college
- Certificate from a CODA-accredited Advanced Dental Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry at the time of employment
- Eligible for, or has, a New York State dental license
- Proficiency in all facets of pediatric dentistry including emergent treatment
Preferred:
- American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) certification or eligibility
- Previous teaching experience at a CODA accredited institution
- NYS moderate sedation certificate or eligibility
- Active member in AAPD
