Ralph H. Epstein, DDS, is a dental anesthesiologist, clinical associate professor, and program director of the Advanced Dental Education Program in Dental Anesthesiology at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. A 1978 graduate of Stony Brook, he completed a general practice residency and two-year dental anesthesia residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He is a diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and previously served as Chair of the New York State Board for Dentistry and its Committee on Anesthesiology.  A past president of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists (ASDA), Dr. Epstein has been a leading national advocate for dental anesthesiology and played an important role in championing the specialty's recognition and advancing anesthesia education and legislative standards for dental professionals. He is also widely recognized for his longstanding commitment to improving access to and the quality of oral health care for individuals with special needs. In recognition of his outstanding professional achievements and contributions to the field, Dr. Epstein received Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine’s 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
