Alexandra Makara, DDS

Dr. Alexandra N. Makara, a Long Island native, is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the Northeast representative for the AAPD Council on Postdoctoral Education. She earned her DDS from New York University College of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. After her GPR, she worked in private practice before pursuing specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Rochester’s Eastman Institute for Oral Health. A diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, her research focuses on caries risk assessment and age of presentation in children with special healthcare needs, the impact of community‑based oral health programs, and early childhood disease prevention. She is dedicated to advancing equitable, evidence‑based oral healthcare for all children.
