Dr. Somohano-Marquez is a clinical associate professor and the program director for the Advanced Dental Education Program in Prosthodontics at Stony Brook University. She has been part of the Department of Prosthodontics and Digital Technology at Stony Brook University since 2015. Dr. Somohano-Marquez' training includes a dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico, a prosthodontics certificate from New York University (NYU) and a maxillofacial prosthetics fellowship from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She is a board-certified prosthodontist and holds a hospital appointment with Stony Brook University Hospital, where she participates in Tumor Board Conferences and providing multidisciplinary patient care. Her research interest includes: the care of patients with head and neck cancer and the incorporation of digital dentistry in the prosthodontic workflow. She is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists as well as the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics with leadership roles in both.
