Stephen G. Walker, MSc, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Oral Biology and Pathology at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. He also serves as the interim associate dean for research and the interim chair of the department. He earned his PhD from the University of British Columbia and joined the faculty in 2000 after completing two postdoctoral fellowships, one of which focused on anaerobic human oral bacterial species. His research centers on oral microbial ecology in both health and disease, as well as the evaluation of novel potential antibiotics against a range of human pathogenic bacteria.
