Jennifer Englebright, BA ’05, DMD, a longtime general dentist on the north shore of Long Island, has been appointed a full-time clinical assistant professor in the Department of General Dentistry at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Englebright, who will join the SDM faculty in July, has spent the past 15 years in private practice, most recently in Port Jefferson.

“We are so pleased to have Dr. Englebright join our full-time faculty,” said Patrick Lloyd, dean of the School of Dental Medicine. “Her experience in private practice, involvement in organized dentistry and a family history of academics predict substantial contributions she will make to the education of our students and the future of our school.”

An English literature graduate of Stony Brook University, Dr. Englebright went on to earn her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, and then completed her general practice residency at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, New York. Her journey came full circle when, while in private practice, she volunteered as an attending in the St. Charles dental residency program from 2015 to 2019, teaching and overseeing residents in all phases of general dentistry.

A proponent of organized dentistry, Englebright serves on the Suffolk County Dental Society board of directors and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.

“I’m excited to be part of the Stony Brook University community again and begin this new chapter in my career at the School of Dental Medicine," Englebright said. "An innovative and progressive force in education and research, the School of Dental Medicine provides the perfect setting to fulfill my long-held passion for academia. I look forward to contributing to dentistry in more creative ways, especially the opportunity to teach and help develop multi-dimensional and dynamic dental professionals, who can lead beyond the movement of their hands.”
