Guenter Jonke, DMD, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Stony Brook, was honored with the prestigious New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) Mark J. Feldman Distinguished Service Award. He received the award at the NYSDA House of Delegates annual meeting on Long Island in May.
In addition to caring for patients in private practice for more than 35 years, Jonke has been a longtime proponent of organized dentistry, including currently as president of the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Jonke is also a past president of the Suffolk County Dental Society, and held the roles of NYSDA Trustee, Greater Long Island Dental Meeting chair and chair of the American College of Dentists New York chapter.
“I am humbled beyond belief to be recognized with the Mark J. Feldman Distinguished Service Award,” Jonke said. “Dr. Feldman’s legacy of leadership, dedication and advocacy in dentistry has set a standard for all of us in the profession. I share this honor with my many colleagues in dentistry and academia who have inspired and mentored me throughout my career.”
