The Annual Alumni Reception Connects SDM Community at GLIDM
April 2018 - Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine (SDM) alumni, as well as current students, faculty, and staff, joined together at the annual alumni reception at the Greater Long Island Dental Meeting (GLIDM) on April 17th. The reception was held following a full day of courses, events, and vendor exhibitions at Hilton Long Island/Huntington in Melville and was hosted by Stony Brook Alumni Relations.
The reception was full of lively conversation over refreshments and provided a comfortable atmosphere to wind down following GLIDM’s exciting first session. More importantly, the event provided a space for networking with new acquaintances in addition to strengthening existing connections.
“Having the alumni reception at GLIDM is a convenient way for alumni to see each other as well as attend the meeting,” said Barry Bass, MS, DDS ’81, whose practice, Plainview & Massapequa Oral and Implant Surgery, includes four alumni - Dr. Bass himself, and Robert Bacigalupo, DDS ‘13, Jason Kneller, DDS ‘08, and David Jurman, DDS ‘00, MD, FACS.
“Alumni relationships are important for practice building. I think all Stony Brook graduates feel our education is one of the best, so working with alumni is well-respected and can enhance our practices,” added Bass.
Events such as these encourage and sustain lifelong relationships between the SDM and our valued alumni community. “It is always great to see former students,” said Dr. Steven Zove, DDS , Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs. “It’s wonderful to catch up and hear about their successes, both personally and professionally.”
