Dr. Ana Carolina Botta-Maltese is a tenured associate professor and director of the Division of Operative and Dental Materials in the Department of General Dentistry. She also serves as director of the Cariology and Operative Dentistry courses. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), along with her certificate and advanced degrees (MS and PhD) in Operative Dentistry, from São Paulo State University in Brazil. Her research focuses on dental biomaterials, digital technology, and ergonomics, and she has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals in these areas. In addition to her scholarly work, she is actively involved in key institutional committees that support the daily operations and strategic mission of the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Botta-Maltese also contributes to the broader academic community as a scientific reviewer for numerous journals and has participated in national and international conferences. She maintains an active faculty practice with Stony Brook Dental Associates.
