Dr. Joseph Graskemper is a clinical professor at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. He currently is the course director of Professionalism and Ethics in Dentistry, a residency level course that applies ethics, professionalism and legal concepts to the management of a dental practice. Graskemper graduated from Xavier University with an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences, received his dental degree from Ohio State University and a law degree from Thomas Jefferson College of Law. He has published numerous textbooks on risk management and leadership in dentistry. Graskemper has practiced 50 years, including developing one of the first multi-specialty fee for service practices in La Jolla, California. He has served as an expert witness/consultant regarding dental-legal issues including dental malpractice since 1987.
