School of Dental Medicine Volunteers with Remote Area Medical in Lee County, VA
September 2016-Many people live in fear of sickness and injury because they have little or no access to basic medical care. Remote Area Medical (RAM) responds to this need by providing free dental, vision, and medical care to isolated, impoverished, or underserved communities. In less than 12 hours RAM turns fairgrounds, schools, arenas, and jungles into mobile medical centers.
Since 2010 Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine (SDM) has volunteered and participated in these outreach programs with RAM.
This past September 10 and 11 Stony Brook SDM once again provided free dental services in Lee County, VA, along with 360 volunteers who saw 464 patients over two days.
