| Clinical description: This 9 year old female patient has a history of painless maxillary expansion for the past 5-6 years. She and her parents are interested in orthognathic surgery to correct the cosmetic defect. Her medical history is significant for a microcytic, hypochromic manemia. She has periodic blood transfusions to treat the anemia. She also has hepatosplenomegaly.
