
Patricia Swanson, DDS, Prosth ’18, clinical associate professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and Digital Technology, was named editor-in-chief of the ACP Messenger at the 2025 American College of Prosthodontists board of directors meeting in August.
The publication has published articles covering current prosthodontic trends, challenges and successes for more than 50 years. The first issue under Swanson’s leadership was published this month.
“The ACP Messenger connects nearly 4,000 members worldwide with updates in education, board certification, and treatment modalities,” Swanson said. “It is an honor to represent my prosthodontic colleagues as editor-in-chief and contribute to the voice of the specialty.”
Swanson obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo, graduating summa cum laude, before earning her Certificate in Prosthodontics at the SDM. She became a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics in 2018, and is also a member of several subcommittees of the ACP Education Foundation, including the Artificial Intelligence and Faculty Development & Calibration committees.
Swanson’s recent accolades include receiving the ACP’s Junior Educator of the Year Award in 2022, as well as the 2023 Charles Craig Teaching Award from Omicron Kappa Upsilon, dentistry’s national honor society, of which she is a member.
